Seven research notes from seven publishers: FCC optical transceiver rules, memory price hikes, China liquidity, and a stack of sell-side rating changes
On 2026-10-02 the seven research publishers tracked here published seven pieces. TMT Breakout issued a morning wrap covering AI compute, memory pricing and sell-side rating changes. FundaAI wrote on reported FCC rules for Chinese optical transceivers, and Damnang on optical test equipment. AlphaPick posted a weekly portfolio recap, Capital Wars a macro note on China's liquidity, Macro Charts a chart-based market update ahead of the payrolls release, and James Bulltard a trading recap built around unusual options activity. Every statement below is attributed to the publisher that made it, using the publisher's own numbers. Quant Data did not verify these statements and takes no view on them.

What each piece said
AlphaPick · MU — Alpha Picks Market Recap & Portfolio Review
AlphaPick's weekly recap says soft August core PCE and a sharp slowdown in September payrolls cooled expectations of an October rate hike, though a December hike is still priced. It reports the 10-year yield peaked at 5.34%, the highest since 2002, and closed near 5.24%. It cites Micron fiscal Q4 revenue of $54.23B, up 379%, and adjusted EPS of $33.42. AlphaPick says Alpha Picks returned 4.36% over a month versus 0.29% for the S&P 500, and discloses long positions in MU, LITE and EAT.
Capital Wars — China’s Next Phase
Capital Wars argues China is entering a balance-sheet adjustment, with a debt-to-liquidity ratio of about 1.0x against a long-run equilibrium it puts near 0.75x, implying liquidity would need to rise about 33%. It says PBoC liquidity is roughly double its 2019 level, about $3 trillion of added liquidity, but that 2026 injections stalled after US-Iran tensions in March. It concludes: US equities for beta, Chinese equities for alpha, with gold, commodities and energy reflating first. It names no tickers.
Damnang · AEHR — Co-Packaged, Near-Packaged, Always Tested
Damnang argues that delayed co-packaged optics and the earlier arrival of near-packaged optics do not hurt optical test demand, because both use the same optical engine. It models a scale-up optical-engine test market of about $2B a year and says a single defect scraps a whole package. It holds FormFactor and Viavi through 2028, and only accumulates a small Aehr position below its reference price, citing Aehr at about 10x modeled 2030 revenue. Aehr reports fiscal Q1 on 10/5.
FundaAI · LITE — Column|Optics: FCC Transceiver Rules Might Be Better Than Feared, and Better for Top Chinese Players Than You'd Think
FundaAI argues reported FCC limits on Chinese optical transceivers may be milder than feared. The reported framework would allow Chinese-made modules if US-company content is at least 65% of bill-of-materials value, phased in from the 3.2T generation around 2028. FundaAI says Lumentum and Coherent would benefit, as would InnoLight and Eoptolink. It stresses there is no public draft text, and that a strict Buy American reading, with a 75% threshold from 2029, would reverse its conclusion.
James Bulltard · NVDA — 10/2/26 Recap
James Bulltard's recap says SPY gapped higher after a very weak payrolls report but remains in a series of lower highs since early August, with a close above 775 needed to confirm a breakout. It says NVDA posted a record monthly close and broke its range. Most of the piece lists unusual options prints in NVDA, FCX, ASML, CDNS and NOK, plus the author's own short-put positions in GFL, AMZN and INTC. The author notes the large prints do not show whether they are directional or hedges.
Macro Charts · SPY — Market Update & Signals 10/2/26
Macro Charts, writing before the 10/2 payrolls release, calls the risk-reward asymmetric and says SPY holding $760 could lead to new highs within days. It cites corporate buyback authorizations of $1.3 trillion through 9/29, relayed from Scott Rubner of Citadel, with the buyback window reopening 10/15, and bond sentiment at the 1.1st percentile. It reports opening 10% positions each in IWM and XLU as a rotation basket. The case rests almost entirely on charts.
TMT Breakout · NVDA — TMTB Morning Wrap
A morning wrap relaying sell-side notes and news. TMT Breakout reports Morgan Stanley reinstated Nvidia as a Top Pick with a $300 price target, KB Securities seeing 4Q26 DRAM up 10-15% quarter on quarter, and Samsung proposing 2027 HBM4 pricing above 3x HBM3E. It also relays a $60B Broadcom-arranged financing for Anthropic and others, and Toshiba's plan to double HDD capacity, after which STX and WDC fell about 10%. Software channel checks point to slow AI monetization.
Directional statements on the record
Each row is a dated fact: a named source expressed a direction on a named ticker. Where a publisher was relaying a broker's rating change, the originating voice is in the "via" column. None of this is a recommendation from Quant Data.
| Publisher | Via | Ticker | Stance | Statement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AlphaPick | AlphaPick | MU | Bullish | Keeps Micron as a top Alpha Pick, citing AI data-center memory demand above supply; the author discloses a long position. |
| Damnang | Damnang | AEHR | Neutral | Expectations already reflect the most of the optical-test names; no add at the current price, small accumulation only below the author's reference price, profits taken on rallies. |
| Damnang | Damnang | FORM | Bullish | Holds FormFactor through 2028, saying it can absorb near-packaged flow and is buffered against further CPO delay. |
| Damnang | Damnang | VIAV | Bullish | Holds Viavi through 2028; the market-cap-to-2030-revenue multiple of 3.5x is the lowest of the four names compared. |
| Damnang | Damnang | TER | Neutral | Teradyne is on a watch list pending separate disclosure of optical revenue or scale-up CPO wafer test orders. |
| FundaAI | FundaAI | LITE | Bullish | Constructive on Lumentum and Coherent (COHR): the reported 65% US-content framework supports laser demand and pricing without needing to expand low-margin module assembly. |
| FundaAI | FundaAI | AVGO | Bullish | Says AVGO and MRVL (DSP suppliers) are more secure under a US-content threshold, and MTSI, SMTC and MXL gain incremental TIA and driver demand. |
| James Bulltard | James Bulltard | NVDA | Bullish | Flags a purchase of 7,800 next-week $247.50 calls at $0.66; author is bullish and suggests a risk reversal (short $225 put against the long call) at about zero net cost. |
| James Bulltard | James Bulltard | FCX | Bullish | Flags a purchase of 5,800 December $70 calls (over $4M); says a break above 80.24 could run, and that a conservative version is short December puts struck below 65. |
| James Bulltard | James Bulltard | ASML | Bullish | Flags a purchase of 200 December $2100 calls at $76.50; notes the all-time high of 1999.96 and a 2040/2060 call spread as a cheaper alternative. |
| James Bulltard | James Bulltard | CDNS | Bullish | Flags a purchase of 2,300 January $480 calls at $4.35; author's structure shorts a $280 put against the $480 call for a net $3 credit, a net-long exposure. |
| James Bulltard | James Bulltard | NOK | Bullish | Flags a purchase of 7,000 October 30 $10.50 calls at $0.82; author says the chart resembles a low-level bear flag but has held the 200-day line several times. |
| James Bulltard | author's own account | GFL | Bullish | Short 250 October $40 puts at $1.66 on takeover speculation, already a large position (short put = bullish exposure). |
| James Bulltard | author's own account | BHF | Bullish | Added 10,000 shares at $49.95 and wrote October 55 calls at $0.28+, betting on a competitive bid. |
| James Bulltard | author's own account | AMZN | Bullish | Rolled 300 December short puts from 225 to 230 and added 100, collecting $6.49 (short put = bullish exposure); willing to hold more below 230. |
| James Bulltard | author's own account | INTC | Bullish | Rolled 250 next-week short puts from 110 to 115 for a net $0.65 credit, added 50 at $1.15, and holds December $95 short puts. |
| Macro Charts | Macro Charts | SPY | Bullish | Calls the setup asymmetric with $760 as the line in the sand; a hammer and bull flag at support, with SPY possibly making new highs within days. |
| Macro Charts | Macro Charts | QQQ | Bullish | Sees QQQ, IGV and XLK heading toward new highs and SMH higher this month; chart-based, no price targets. |
| Macro Charts | Macro Charts | IWM | Bullish | Opened a 10% long in IWM as part of its rotation basket, citing broad early reversal evidence in oversold sectors; risk described as extremely tight. |
| Macro Charts | Macro Charts | XLU | Bullish | Opened a 10% long in XLU in the same rotation basket, citing a higher low. |

- AlphaPick: Alpha Picks returned 4.36% over the past month versus 0.29% for the S&P 500.
- Capital Wars: China debt-to-liquidity ratio about 1.0x versus long-run equilibrium about 0.75x; liquidity needs to rise about 33% to return to equilibrium (Japan about 60%).
- Capital Wars: PBoC liquidity is about 2x its 2019 level, roughly $3 trillion of added liquidity; bond yields imply about 1-2% real growth versus official GDP of about 5%.
- Damnang · AEHR: Aehr H2 orders $97.9M versus the $60-80M expected; FY27 silicon-photonics share guided at 15-20%; market cap about 10x modeled 2030 revenue.
- Damnang: Scale-up optical-engine test market about $2B a year; with 18 engines per package, 99% per-engine yield gives 83.5% package yield and 98% gives 69.5%.
- FundaAI · LITE: Reported framework: at least 65% US-company content by bill-of-materials value; 3.2T initial ramp in 2028, broad adoption around 2029; Buy American precedent 65% for 2024-28 rising to 75% from 2029.

What would prove them wrong
Several publishers name the observation that would falsify their own view. Those are the most useful sentences in any research note, so they are collected here.
- AlphaPick: The 10/14 September CPI and 10/15 retail sales and PPI prints, and the 10/27-28 FOMC, as tests of whether inflation keeps cooling and a December hike stays priced.
- AlphaPick: Whether the 10-year yield falls below 5% or breaks above 5.34% again.
- Capital Wars: Whether the 10-day moving total of daily PBoC liquidity resumes its post-2022 expansion; continued stalling delays the thesis.
- Capital Wars: Whether gold, industrial metals and oil strengthen before Chinese equity indices and official data; the opposite order weakens the sequencing argument.
- Damnang · AEHR: Aehr's 10/5 fiscal Q1 report: silicon-photonics share above the 15-20% guide with continued orders would support; a long gap in orders would not.
- Damnang · FORM: Whether FormFactor's 2026 CPO revenue outlook rises above $20M and double-sided probing qualifies for volume production by mid-2027; stagnation would lead Damnang to revise down.
- Damnang · VIAV: Whether Viavi's CPO revenue accelerates separately from 1.6T pluggables and its network and service enablement gross margin stops declining.
- FundaAI · LITE: Publication of the FCC rule text: the 65% denominator, the definitions of US company and US-made. A Buy American-style 65%/75% plus US-manufacture test would undercut the milder thesis.
- FundaAI: Progress of the Communications and Technology Transparency Act and the Senate optical-module bill that names InnoLight and Eoptolink.
- James Bulltard · SPY: A close above 775 confirms the breakout; otherwise the author treats the move as a weak rally within the range.
- James Bulltard · FCX: A break above 80.24 is the upside marker; a move below 65, the rising 200-day line, is where the author would be willing to hold stock via short puts.
- James Bulltard · AMZN: A decline below 230 is the level at which the author would hold a full-size position.
- Macro Charts · SPY: A close below $760 invalidates the bullish setup; breadth making new lows below the 2022, late-2023 and April 2025 troughs would also fail the thesis.
- Macro Charts · IWM: Whether the oversold-sector reversals hold after the payrolls reaction, and whether 2-year and 5-year yields and rates volatility keep falling below March highs.
- TMT Breakout · MRVL: Marvell Investor Day on 10/6: whether the long-term model reaches about $45B revenue and about $19 EPS by FY31, as Piper expects.
- TMT Breakout · CLS: Celestica's 10/27 analyst day: whether 2027 revenue moves toward $40B versus Street $35.7B, per Bernstein.
- TMT Breakout · MU: Whether Samsung, SK hynix and Micron settle 2027 HBM contracts near the reported HBM4 pricing above 3x HBM3E.
- TMT Breakout · NVDA: Whether GPU-collateralized loans end up requiring Nvidia guarantees or investment-grade customer contracts, per the Reuters report relayed.

Are these Quant Data’s numbers?
No. Every figure on this page is attributed to the publisher that stated it and is reproduced as stated. Quant Data did not verify them. The only Quant Data numbers on the page are the counts of pieces and statements, and the settled options positioning shown for tickers that have a max pain page on this site.
Is a "bullish" entry in the statements table a recommendation?
No. The table records that a named source expressed a direction on a named ticker on a dated day, the way a clippings file would. It is not a signal and not advice. It exists so that the statements can be checked against what prices did afterwards.
Sources: publicly available Substack newsletters that Quant Data accesses through paid subscriptions.
